Frequently Asked Questions
Here to help
How can I support my child during Play Therapy?
- You can support your child by being sensitive to their needs after returning from sessions.
- Not to ask questions after the sessions and to be sensitive to the challenges they are facing.
What does Play Therapy involve?
A child is given "special time" which will take place at the same place and time every week with the Play therapist. Sessions are confidential unless the child is being hurt or harmed.
How many Play Therapy sessions would my child need?
It takes time to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship with a child. Play Therapy is child-led and we move at the child's pace. A block of 12 sessions of 40 minutes each is required to be effective. Some children may need more than 12 sessions but this will be discussed with the parents / guardians during the feedback meetings.
